Red River Gorge Adventures
Kentucky has more to offer then we had ever imagined. The Red River Gorge is a short drive from Lexington, KY and allows you to step into a magical world. The valleys of millions of ferns, cascading cliffs, tranquil waterfalls, and brilliant arches.
Eating & Sleeping
The Red River Gorge offers a vast selection of both secluded and open camping sites. One has the option to backpack in and immerse themselves into the trees or camp out of their car for an added level of comfort. The Gorge is a beautiful place to cookout over a campfire or enjoy many of the wonderful dining establishments. The Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge is home to Sky Bridge Station, Red River Rockhouse, Miguels Pizza, Red River Smokehouse, and La Cabana Mexican Restaurant. It is hard for us to have a personal favorite as each offers delicious food that is perfect after a hike.
Although we can't pick a favorite place to eat, we can always decide on the pizza ordered at Miguels. Over countless visits, we have put together a wide variety of toppings, however there is only one favorite. The mixture of flavors and textures offered by chorizo sausage, corn, avocados, onions, cilantro, and bacon is a something you won't regret!
The Red River Gorge is home to hundreds of hiking trails, all of which offer a wide array of sceneries. Our latest adventure took us to Auxier Ridge, Courthouse Rock and into what I like to call Fern Valley. The complete loop is a little less then 6 miles and it is worth every step.
Tired and dirty, we finally made it back to the car
